The photograph chosen this year for Societe Generale Group’s greeting card comes from the Paris Jardins series by Claire de Virieu.
A French photographer born in Paris in 1948, Claire de Virieu has spent several decades developing a sensitive body of work devoted to nature, light, and gardens. Her gaze—both contemplative and exacting—explores the intimate relationship between humanity and the living world, through numerous widely acclaimed exhibitions and publications.In 2008, she published Paris Jardins, the result of a long-term collaboration with anthropologist Marc Augé. This series offers a poetic and disorienting vision of Parisian gardens, captured as spaces of breath, silence, and revelation, where light becomes both substance and language.
