Weil brings together certain classical materials of sculpture like black Belgian marble, blue Belgian marble and granite from Busvily, as well as more common stones like Volvic stone or Trélazé slate. He arranges block and fragments into frames or animated metallic structures.
His work is both traditional – imaginary archaeology, exploration of minerals, use of a base – and contemporary – recovered objects, mechanical techniques, defying the laws of gravity. This sculpture shows how a hard and dense stone like granite can also come to life in subtle movement.
