Her work focuses mainly on exploring colour, its spheres and its transformations. A lot of her chromatic research is based on adapting the density and dilution of pigments to obtain fluid and transparent colours which are easier to spread. The smoothness of the material and the effects of transparency and light are created through the subtle use of colours but also the superposition of hues.

Marie Thurman is a graduate of numerous art schools (Beaux-arts de Paris, Parsons School in New York and Pratt Graphics Center, New York), and has organised numerous personal exhibitions in Europe: France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK.
