Obelisks I and II
1994
Piotr Strelnik
Mixed media
250 x 80 each
In this diptych the obelisks show the Strelnik's attraction for monumental sculpture. The two oblong forms face each other in perfect symmetry, one being the mirror of the other. They are like sketches in preparation for a sculpture, studies of form, material, and visualisation of lighting. The obelisks are supple and curved, which, according to the artist, are similar to two bodies bending towards each other, escaping their role as a mere object.

Painter.
After studying at the Fine Arts School in Warsaw, in 1983 Strelnik came to Paris. He defined himself as a figurative painter.
