The use of brown, ochre and copper inks, associated with traces of red chalk and sepia, reveals his extensive colour expertise. It does not tell a story, with no scope for details or anecdotes, Gérard Titus-Carmel's entire work is an invitation to meditation.

Gérard Titus-Carmel
France
Born in 1942
Painter, draftsman, and engraver but also poet.
Since the early 1970's, he works in series about a theme or an object he creates himself before drawing or painting it. In surprising compositions which show a formidable formal assertiveness, he re-creates the movement through wales and hatching with pencil lead.
