Stahly’s work is allusively abstract, somewhere between Constantin Brancusi and Hans Arp: organic forms, radiant and uneven, inspired by biomorphology. His steel works are more geometrically structured and establish Signals of verticality. An important part of Stahly’s work are his monumental sculptures in public spaces.

After studying at the Fine Arts School of Zurich, in 1931 Stahly came to Paris. After the war, Stahly appeared as one of the major sculptors from the young School of Paris.
