Nine pieces, 78 x 97,5 cm each
In this series, Burgin imagined that André Breton had turned his cult book, Nadja, into a film, but unfortunately it was lost. Years later, images from this film resurfaced…The artist uses images from the press as well as computer-generated images that he transforms and manipulates. The interaction of text and imagery is also an important part of his work.

Born in 1941
As early as the 1960s, Victor Burgin’s work was considered to be close to conceptual art. His work uses a combination of media including photographs, texts, installations and videos. He makes a critical analysis of society (sexuality, power, etc) and is above all interested in the status of imagery: its relationship with reality, modes of perception and the memory. He mixes images from reality with mental images – personal memories, collective memory, fantasies, etc.
