As early as the 1960s, Victor Burgin’s work was considered to be close to conceptual art. His work uses a combination of media including photographs, texts, installations and videos. He makes a critical analysis of society (sexuality, power, etc) and is above all interested in the status of imagery: its relationship with reality, modes of perception and the memory. He mixes images from reality with mental images – personal memories, collective memory, fantasies, etc.
The artist uses images from the press as well as computer-generated images that he transforms and manipulates. The interaction of text and imagery is also an important part of his work.
