Born in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China.
Founder of the Political Pop Art movement in the aftermath of the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989, Guangyi Wang is a leading figure on the postmodern Chinese art scene. Having tried his hand at Surrealism, he now mixes imagery from Maoist propaganda, Pop Art and western consumer brands in his absurdist, kitsch works.
