Records, notes, abbreviations, signs – these are the synonyms to describe the works by Denisa Lehocka who, by means of a daily recurring ritual, chronicles the uniqueness of each day. Her drawings, paintings and objects replacing which are incapable of conveying the full message fill the selected location through the presence of memory. […].  In her installations or in her paintings, Denisa Lehocka makes numerous references to her personal life, to her emotions and to the objects of her daily life. Her work on the immaterial, memory or reminiscences borrow certain codes from conceptual art while staying clearly in the movement of the “return to painting” observed at the beginning of the 2000s.

Denisa Lehocka studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, in Bratislava. She is part of many collections : Erste Bank Group Collection (Vienna), Europian Investment Bank (Luxembourg), Slovak National Gallery (Bratislava) and private collections in Slovak Rep., Czech Rep., Austria, Hungary, Germany, France, Belgium.
In 2008 she takes part of the exhibition « Micro-Narratives, Tentation des petites réalités » at the Musée d’art moderne de Saint-Etienne.

The work of Denisa Lehocka is related to the literary trend called, “autofiction”, a genre between autobiography and fiction, where the author puts himself into the story. The artist becomes the subject and the material of the work even though a large part is left to the imagination or to pure fiction.
