Pater Noster et personnages

1995

Pierre Weiss

Mixed media

140 x 80 on 2

Pater Noster provides the same kind of reflection. Despite the apparent dryness of the design, behind the crossing lines, between the rectangular forms repeated in the lacquered panel, he hides the figure and the portrait for those who care to look.
Pierre Weiss
Born in 1950
Austrian painter and sculptor living in Paris.

In his recent work, Weiss often brought together paintings in panels hung on walls with 3-dimensional object sculptures place on the ground. Their lacquered surface reflects the viewer's image, like a watermark in the work. Combining it with a sculpture around which the viewer can walk, allows for an infinite number of viewpoints and therefore reflections. The viewer creates his/her own self-portrait.

Pater Noster provides the same kind of reflection. Despite the apparent dryness of the design, behind the crossing lines, between the rectangular forms repeated in the lacquered panel, hides the figure and the portrait for those who care to look.
