Les gardiens du tombeau du soleil

1966

Andrée Pollier

Painting

130 x 162 cm

Oil on Canvas.

The titles of these works show a symbolic and almost dreamlike direction in which she searches for the meaning of her world of introspection. The paintings displayed here are part of a metaphysical movement of painting which, through its desolate spaces evoke the works of Giorgio and Chirico.
Andrée Pollier
France
Born in 1916
French painter.

After devoting much of her life to landscapes, in 1960 Pollier began paintings depicting an imaginary world. She uses strong and intense colours applied in layers on architectural forms whose contours are clearly outlined by thick shading.

The titles of these works show a symbolic and almost dreamlike direction in which she searches for the meaning of her world of introspection. The paintings displayed here are part of a metaphysical movement of painting which, through its desolate spaces evoke the works of Giorgio and Chirico.
