The cibachromes presented here show how fundamental the role colour and material play in his work. The framing and the use of colour in the images, from which the subject (in the traditional sense) is missing, are reminiscent of the abstract art form, action painting. Born in 1939

Aubry taught at the Ecole Nationale Louis Lumière until 1985, and is now director of collections at the publishers Jean Michel Place, and advisor to the French Museum of Photography. He also works as a critic and journalist for several photography magazines.

The cibachromes show how fundamental the role colour and material play in his work.
