Klavdij Sluban

1963

France

Born 1963 in Paris
Lives and works between France and Eastern European countries (Slovenia, Serbia, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldavia, Latvia, Russia).

Born in the French capital but entrusted to an uncle for a few years by his parents who worked in the Parisian area, Klavdij Sluban spent his childhood in Slovenia and grew up journeying back and forth between the two countries all the time. Himself the eternal exile, he turned this incurable yearning into the very source of his sombre, descriptive photographic style. Constantly in transit, this travelling photographer with a passion for literature enjoys nothing better than wandering the world with a book by Samuel Beckett or Fernando Pessoa stored away in his backpack.
