"Genau" is one of Stéphane Calais recent pieces – a collage of digitally-remastered objects. He reinforces large digital prints then touches them up with acrylic. He also marks out the frames and grids. In doing so he creates a collage – taking fragments of reality that he then rearranges and reinvents.

Lives and works in Paris.

Stéphane Calais revisits tales, legends and popular icons and mixes them with a universe where abstraction and figuration lie side by side. He develops his drawings and pieces using plastic forms that draw their inspiration from graphic design, American comic books or architecture. Calais uses various media: posters, photocopies, murals, furniture (lights, armchairs), sculptures and installations. His universe goes from fiction to abstraction, from popular tales to the burlesque. He uses drawings and a medley of materials, shapes and colours to reflect a highly colourful, festive style.
