Bornin 1964, in Saint-Etienne, in France, Jean-Michel Othoniel lives and works inParis. He has made working with glass his hallmark.
In2011, an important exhibition held at the Centre Pompidou, in Paris, traces hisartistic development and explores the multitude of techniques he has employed.This exhibition, titled “My Way”, is later shown at the Leeum Samsung Museum ofArt/Plateau in Seoul, the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo, the MacauMuseum of Art in Macau and the Brooklyn Museum in New York.
Jean-Michel Othoniel's worksare showcased in the finest contemporary art museums around the world. He isrepresented by Galerie Perrotin (New York, Paris and Hong Kong), GalerieKarsten Greve (Cologne and Saint-Moritz) and Kukje Gallery (Seoul).
He is regularly invited to create site-specific works thatinteract with historical sites and the architecture of today. In 2015, hislatest works will be displayed in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles.
