Jean-Baptiste SÉCHERET
Painting
209 x 300 cm
Whether working with etching, lithograph, painting, or engraving, Sécheret, who taught at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris Belleville, brings into opposition buildings and vacant spaces without any detail distracting the attention. No matter the location –New York, La Défense, Normandy –, the world created by Jean-Baptiste Sécheret seems empty, deserted, or disused. Each moment feels stopped, almost turned into eternity. It says nothing about the past nor the future. Instead of evoking time, his series deny it.
