With this series of “instant visions”, or painting-cum-sculptures identified by a mere number, Gerold Miller proposes different variations on the theme of the frame, one of painting’s classic canons. The mirror and the mirror image with its play of distorted reflections is the subject of the work shown here, Instant vision 7.

Germany
Born in 1961
Born in Altshausen, Germany.
Lives and works in Berlin.
A mix of painting, sculpture, designer product and installation, Gerold Miller’s three-dimensional, hybrid works are rooted in pure pictoriality. In a field midway between minimalism and conceptual art, the German artist combines the extreme formal economy of geometric motifs and a certain degree of stylish play of colour and textures.
