Christelle Téa uses her vibrant, expressive line to reveal the unique character and spirit of remarkable places and interiors that a hurried observer might mistakenly believe to be empty.
For the 2026 European Heritage Days, the iconic headquarters of Société Générale, located at 29 Boulevard Haussmann and listed as a Historic Monument, opened its doors to the public. On this occasion, Christelle Téa created, in a live drawing performance before visitors, this true portrait of its extraordinary central rotunda.
The work subsequently entered the Société Générale Art Collection.
Trained at the École Olivier de Serres and the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, Christelle Téa has travelled the world while developing her distinctive drawing style, from the markets of Beijing to the baths of Budapest.
Today, she focuses on portraits drawn from life, depicting her subjects within their own surroundings, to which she attaches
particular importance. For her, a sitter’s environment is a reflection of their personality.
Likewise, when she turns her attention to non-human subjects such as interiors, animals, or food, they too seem endowed with
individual personalities, as though they alone were portraying a subject who has momentarily stepped out of the picture.
She has produced several series of drawings inspired by natural history and, together with her mother, published an illustrated cookbook entitled Au Bonheur.
In 2021, the exhibition Christelle Téa, Musées dessinés at the Musée Cognacq-Jay brought together her depictions of the fourteen museums and heritage sites of the City of Paris.
Her work has also been exhibited at the Musée Jean-Jacques Henner and the Maison Caillebotte. In 2024, the Paris Aquarium
devoted a major exhibition to her watercolours depicting the aquatic world.
