Eva Jospin
1975
France
Graduate of École des Beaux-arts in Paris, Eva Jospin develops a sculptural practice informed by imagined landscape and architecture. Through cardboard, drawing, embroidery, and bronze, she creates forests, grottoes, and fictional constructions that unfold as mental spaces. Her works, both meticulous and monumental, play on the ambivalence between fragility and permanence, natural and artificial. They invite the viewer into a contemplative wandering, in which matter becomes the site of an inner experience, between refuge, enigma, and passage. Laureate of the l’Académie des Beaux-Arts prize in 2015 and a resident at the Villa Medici in Rome in 2017, Eva Jospin has presented her work in numerous international institutions, including the Palais de Tokyo, the Hayward Gallery in London, the Palais des Papes in Avignon, the Château de Versailles, and the Grand Palais. She also produces monumental and permanent public commissions and collaborates with fashion and creative houses, notably Dior and Max Mara. Both meticulous and immersive, her work explores the tensions between the natural and the artificial, fragility and permanence, inviting viewers into a contemplative and inward experience of landscape.
