Painter. Born in 1958 in Northampton, Massachusetts.
After completing his art studies at Yale in 1982, John Gibson continued his search in simple and balanced geometrical shapes and their reflection in a neutral space. He employed the rather classic technique of oil paint on wooden boards, not unlike the alter pieces of the Italian Renaissance.
Untitled A poses a number of contemporary questions about painting: balance and deconstruction, tradition and modernity, representation and abstraction. It seems a paradox that the answers provided by John Gibson are expressed in painting that appears out of its time.
