Daniel FIRMAN
1966
France
Born in 1966 in Bron, France.
Lives and works in Bordeaux, France, and New York, United States.
After studying at the Beaux-Arts of Saint-Étienne and Angoulême, Daniel Firman became deeply interested in conventional sculpture and the works of Robert Morris and Bruce Nauman. Elaborated like “systems environments,” his works, created through diverse techniques and processes (performance, casting, recycling) unite chance and conception, body and spirit, suspended moment and motion. The artist’s interest in physics and body energy, in motion and its relationship to space translates into sculptures where the figure is often central. Daniel Firman’s work is often displayed in solo and collective exhibitions. It was exhibited in France and all over Europe, but also in America and Asia. He participated in the Venice Biennale in 2009.
