Alberte Garibbo

1946

France

Painter.

Garibbo’s work was strongly influenced by etching. This is no doubt the origin of her creative strokes and the importance given to tracing and line. The contrast between fullness and void, black and white, is reminiscent of the very unique etching technique: the way in which shapes and drawing are created in the mat colour of deep black.

The founding reference of the famous Black Square by Casimir Malévitch is evident in her work, where the black does not absorb the light, but allows it to exist and shine.
